Q & A

We want to ensure that your experience meets or exceeds your expectations.

We have answered some of our most asked questions here to help.

  •  What consists of a session or class?

    • Our classes are two- to four-hour blocks of time where parents are allowed to drop their children off. Depending on the child’s readiness and parents' level of comfort. Within that time, children will learn and engage with their peers, and their time spent with us will be semi-structured and tailored to their needs, growth, and development.

  • What teaching methods are used at Mini Mingle?

    • Teaching social and emotional growth and development will be the targeted focus by combining ABA techniques and adapting the Montessori method.

      • ABA methods include positive reinforcement, naturalistic teaching, modeling, generalization, shaping, errorless teaching, and redirection.

      • Montessori methods used include hands-on learning, collaborative play, age-appropriate activities, giving choices to offer independence, and providing a well-prepared learning environment

  • What does the curriculum include?

    • The focus of Mini Mingle’s curriculum is social and emotional growth and development. Other skills, such as following directions in a group, following a schedule, appropriate play skills, problem-solving, etc, will also be developed. All learning activities are hand-selected by our BCBA to foster this growth and development. The instructional delivery method will be presented in “play.”

  •   How does Mini Mingle manage challenging behaviors?

    • Challenging behaviors are immediately redirected. If needed, a dedicated “calm corner” is offered. When the child is calm, the behavior(s) are discussed as a group. The group discussion provides all children choices and strategies to use and practice. These choices and strategies are also practiced throughout the day to give all of the children practice in a fun way.

  • How are behaviors targeted and data collected?

    • Our team dedicates time and attention to every child in our program. To better understand their needs, we meet and discuss parent goals with each family before the beginning of their first session. Any challenging behavior(s)   also need to be discussed. Within that conversation, our team creates a data sheet tailored for your child, tracking all goals and challenging behaviors during each session. This data provides each family and our team with their child’s progress.

  • Are snacks allowed?

    • Yes, there is a dedicated snack/lunchtime. Pack your child's favorite snacks from home and send it with your child. Including a note is always a great idea, too.

  • Does my child have to be potty trained?

    • No, having your little one potty trained is not required to join Mini Mingle. However, there are dedicated times when children will be taken to the bathroom and offered to use the toilet. Pull-ups are highly preferred to help with this process.

  • Where is Mini Mingle located?

    • Our location is at a home residence in beautiful Blossom Valley. Safety precautions have been put in the place and there is a separate dedicated space for your child to learn and thrive.
